Veteran Vernon Russell & Young Gun Kody Mariner find the Winner Circle Friday Night

DELMAR, DE –Dover, Delaware’s Vernon Russell has been a long time fixture at the U.S. 13 Dragway and when it comes to going fast and winning he hasn’t lost a beat over the year. Russell captured the Top ET final on Friday night driving his 150 mph Mustang over Eric Mason in his dragster. Kody Mariner of Salisbury, Md. took the win in Mod ET and Brice Cornish, Jr. of Cambridge, Md. rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners included: Michael Jefferson of Parsonsburg, Md. in Street; Sara Davis of Laurel, Del. In Hot Rod and Carter Foskey of Rhodesdale, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

It was a classic matchup between Russell in his ’90 Mustang and the rear engine dragster of Eric Mason in the Top ET final. Russell was on his game with a .013 reaction light and drove to the win with an 8.655/155.81 on an 8.64 dial-in. Mason was too quick and broke out running a 7.160/186.48 on a 7.17 dial. Semi-finalists were Jerry Russell who lost to Mason and Clark Howell who lost the Vernon Russell.

Kody Mariner in his ’78 Malibu faced David Keyton in his Camaro in the Mod ET final. Mariner picked the perfect time for a perfect .000 reaction light and took the win with a 9.858/132.96 on a 9. 83 dial. Keyton was on his dial but could match Mariner’s reaction running a 9.217/143.22 on a 9.21 dial. Semi-finalist was Daryl Beauchamp who lost to Mariner while Keyton had the bye.

Brice Cornish, Jr. on his GSXR 1000 rode up against Brain Wongus on a Suzuki in the Pro Bike final. Both riders were off their dials with Cornish taking the win running a 9.767/108.45 on a 99.36 dial. Wongus was off the throttle running a 14.231/57.80 on a 9.33 dial. Semi-finalists were Adam Melson who lost to Wongus and Harvey Powell who lost to Cornish, Jr.

In the Street Final Michael Jefferson in his Nova extended his point lead defeating Bill Bradford in his ’79 Malibu. Jefferson had the better reaction and was on his dial aking the win with an 11.371/111.17 on an 11.55 dial. Bradford ran an 11.371/115.51 on an 11.35 dial. Sara Davis in her ’71 Camaro defeated Dijon Hall in his Charger. Hall had a -.007 red light foul and Davis ran a 12.468/108.08 on a 12.48 for the win.

Carter Foskey was paired against Caitlyn Hooper in the Jr. Dragster 2 final. The difference was at the starting line with Foskey taking the win with a 7.996/80.94 on a 7.97 dial. Hooper dialed a 7.95 and ran a 7.976/80.48. There was no competition in Jr. Dragster 1.
