BEN PARKS TAKES ALL THE “CANDY IN COTTONTAIL BRACKET BASH AT US 13

Charlie Brown, DELMAR, DE – Salisbury, Md.’s Ben Parks always seems to up his game when the big dollars are on the line. Sunday was no exception as he won the $3000 Top ET Cottontail Bracket Bash at the US 13 Dragway. Kevin Yates of Odenton, Md. drove his ‘78 Ford to the $1000 win in Mod ET and Thomas Graves rode his Suzuki to the win in the Pro Bike final. Other winners on the day were: Billy McLamb of Mardela Springs, Md. in Street; Billy Rememter of Delmar in Hot Rod; Zach Shirkey of Ridgely, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Nicholas Bowie in Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

It was a pair of former champions facing off on the scheduled eighth-mile in the Top ET final as Ben Parks took on Sterling Clough.. The pair were even off the starting line but Parks was just a tick quicker for the win running a 4.990/136.05 on a 4.98 dial-in. Clough ran a 5.508/124.36 on a 5.49 dial. Semi-finalists were Dennis Lewis who lost to Clough and Janet Baden who lost to Parks.

The Mod ET final paired Kevin Yates and Michael Vanderheuvel in his ‘84 Oldsmobile. Vanderheuvel left too early and fouled and Yates was almost dead-on his dial running a 6.001/113.33 on a 6.00 dial for the win. Semi-finalist was Janet Baden.

Thomas Graves rode up against Deltez Davis on his Kawasaki in the Pro Bike final. Davis was late at the start and Graves rode to the win with a 9.196/144.53 on a 9.17 dial. Davis broke out with a fast 8.815/152.05 on an 8.90 dial. Semi-finalist was Wardell Pinkley who lost to Davis while Graves had the bye.

Ronn Carey had a -.039 red light foul and Billy McLamb drove to his first win of the season in his Camaro with a 13.053/101.12 on a 13.03 dial. In Hot Rod it was Billy Rementer in his Chevy S-10 over Harvey Bowden in his ‘93 Mustang. Bowden had the better start but was off his dial with an 11.626 on an 11.54 dial. Rementer had the better run for the win with an 11.998/109.05 on an 11.97 dial.

Zach Shirkey went up against Michael Chapman in the Jr. Dragster 1 final. Chapman broke out with a 12.234/53.48 on a 12.30 dial. Shirkey got the win light running an 11.935/56.49 on an 11.90 dial.
