BEN PARKS TAKES SUPER PRO WIN ON WIND SHORTENED U.S. 13 DRAGWAY

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE - Strong gusting crosswinds forced the U.S. 13 Dragway to shorten competition to the eighth-mile on Sunday for the safety of the racers. The shortened distance worked out just fine for veteran Ben Parks of Salisbury, Md. as he piloted his dragster to his second straight win in Super Pro. Taking the Pro final for the second consecutive week was Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. and James Farmer rode to the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the day included: Henry Osowiecki of Mardella Springs, Md. in Street Eliminator; Ryan Watkins of Salisbury in Hot Rod; Nicholas Bowie of Greensboro, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Katelyn Muir of Salisbury in Jr. Dragster 2.

 

It was dragster against Camaro as Ben Parks lined up against Louis Pulice of Harrington, Del. in the Super Pro final. Pulice had a .003 reaction and Parks responded with a .008 and made up the difference taking the win with a 4.943/139.79 on a 4.94 dial. Pulice had a solid run with a 6.562/104.01 on a 6.55 dial. Semi-finalists were Robert Messick of Pittsville, Md. who lost to Pulice and Greg Olenik of Dover, Del. who lost to Parks.

 

Daryl Beauchamp met Janet Baden of Millersville, Md. in the Pro final. Baden had the better reaction but broke out with a 6.410 on a 6.42 dial. Beauchamp took the win running a 6.395/104.43 on a 6.38 dial. Semi-finalists were Roger Ridgeway, Jr. of Dover who lost to Beauchamp and Glen Isom of New Castle, Del. who lost to Baden

 

James Farmer rode up against Ash Hayward of Fruitland, Md. in the Pro Bike final round. Farmer took the win with a 5.355/111.88 on a 5.28 dial. Hayward was a little late off the line and ran a 5.905/121.55 on a 5.86 dial. Semi-finalists were David Manuel of Pittsville, Md. who lost to Hayward and Jimmie Miller of Gambrills, Md. who lost to Farmer.

 

Henry Osowiecki took the Street win over Russ Archer of Preston, Md. Osowiecki ran a 7.551/90.91 on a 7.53 dial while Archer had a 9.075/75.57 on a 9.02 dial. In Hot Rod it was Ryan Watkins over Damell Hinmov of Dover. Watkins ran an 11.141/63.97 on a 10.81 dial but Hinmov broke out with a 6.343/97.53 on a 6.40 dial.

 

In Jr. Dragster 1 action, Nicholas Bowie took advantage of Kayla Holden’s red light foul for his second straight victory. Bowie ran an 11.998/52.76 on a 12.02 dial for the win. Katelyn Muir took the final round honors in Jr. Dragster 2 over Dacia Powell of Salisbury. Powell had a red light foul and Muir got the win with a 7.903/83.75 on a 7.90 dial.

 

This Sunday will be another exciting Summit E.T Racing Series event plus the Jr. Shootout. Gates open at 10 a.m. with time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations at approximately 2:30 p.m.
