U.S. 13 DRAGWAY RACES INTO ITS 50TH SEASON

13openBy Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – It may seem hard to believe but the U.S. 13 Dragway will be celebrating its 50th consecutive season of weekly drag racing under the promotion and management of the Cathell family in 2013. Opening day is just around the corner and an exciting schedule has been completed.

The lights will go green on the 2013 season with Tune & Test scheduled for March 10th. Gates will open at 11 a.m. with Tune & Test from 12 noon until 5 p.m. Admission for the Tune & Test is $10 for spectators and $20 for participants. E.T. Racing will be held on March 17th and March 24th with the first of two Eighth Mile Drag Shows being held on Easter Sunday, March 31st.

The 2013 Summit E.T. Racing Series begins on April 7th with the first of six “Bad 8 events taking place on April 14th.  Jerry Ketterman’s “Super Bad 8 will be on May 5th and promises to be bigger and better than ever. Other “Bad 8 dates include: June 2nd; July 5th; and August 2nd. The sixth and final “Bad 8 on October 6th will be part of the second Eighth Mile Drag Show and will showcase who is the quickest in the shorter distance.

Plans for the William J. & Juanita Cathell Memorial 50th Anniversary Chevy Show, Shine & Drags on August 25th continue to be made. The event will celebrate the history of the Dragway and promises to be one show that you will not want to miss. The 7th Annual Ford Show will follow on September 1st and will be the final points show of the season.

The Jr. Dragsters will have three “Jr. Shoot Out events that will feature a run-off between the Jr. 1 and Jr. 2 winners. The first of these events will be on April 28th. The Jr. Dragster Challenge plus the “King of the Track will be held on September 29th.

For Sunday events, gates open at 10 a.m. with time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations at approximately 2 p.m. For Friday events, gates open at 3:30 p.m. with time runs at 4:30 p.m. and eliminations at approximately 8 p.m. To view the complete schedule log on to www.delawareracing.com.
