JAMES FARMER WINS BIKE RACE OF CHAMPIONS

By Charlie Brown, Delmar, DE – The 2011 NHRA Summit Racing E.T. Finals included the Race of Champions eliminations. The Race of Champions matched the point champions from the 14 Northeast Division 1 participating tracks in Super, Pro, Street and Bike/Sled. U.S. 13 Dragway 2011 Pro Bike point champion, James Farmer of Denton, Md. won the Race of Champions Bike final.

 

In the Bike final, Farmer was up against Vincent Harris of Baltimore, Md. representing Capitol Raceway. Harris had the better reaction with a .086 to Farmers .094 but it was Farmer having the better run and taking the win with an 8.880/124.32 on an 8.79 dial. Harris had an 11.085/117.58 on a 10.92 dial. Semi-finalists were Ken George of Landing, N.J. representing Raceway Park who lost to Farmer and Barry Stephens of Lafayette, N.J. representing Island Dragway who lost to Harris.

 

In Super it was Jack Grater of Perkiomenville, Pa. representing Maple Grove Dragway going up against Vince Musolino of Syracuse, N.Y. representing ESTA Safety Park. The pair were even at the start with Grater taking the win with an 8.193/158.00 on an 8.18 dial. Musolino ran a 7.215/187.61 on a 7.19 dial. Semi-finalists were Wes Siegel of Flemington, N.J. representing Numidia Dragway who lost to Musolino and Brian Brown of Hammonton, N.J. reprenting Atco Raceway who lost to Grater

 

Kurt Holland of Whitehall, Pa. representing Numidia Dragway faced Dahrl Clark of Evertt, Pa. representing Mason-Dixon Dragway in the Race of Champions Pro final. Clark left too early and red light fouled and Holland took the win with a 10.203/131.77 on a 10.12 dial. Semi-finalists were John Moreno of Staten Island, N.Y. representing Island Dragway who lost to Clark and Mike Larose (2011 RoC winner) of West Monroe, N.Y. representing ESTA Safety Park.

 

For the second year in a row, Billy Kirpens, Jr. of Pittsville, Mass. representing Lebanon Valley Dragway won the RoC Street final. Kirpens took the double break out win over Brian Mullaney of Morristown, N.J. representing Raceway Park with a 12.184/108.10 on a 12.22 dial while Mullaney was out by more with an 11.800/107.73 on an 11.84 dial. Semi-finalists were Roger Dalton, Jr. of North East, Md. representing Cecil County Dragway who lost to Mullaney and Bill Hakusea of Flanders, N.J. representing Island Dragway who lost to Kirpens.
