HUGE FIELD ON HAND FOR U.S. 13 DRAGWAY’S HALLOWEEN BRACKET BASH & GRUDGEMENT WEEKEND

Delmar, DE – A huge field of over 300 race teams descended on the U.S. 13 Dragway for their two-day Halloween Bracket Bash & Grudgement Weekend. Saturday’s action ran well into the late night hours and then “Mother Nature took over, washing out all of Sunday’s competition.

The U.S. 13 Dragway would like to thank L&D Performance, Hurlock Auto & Speed, Complete Automotive Services, Courtesy Chevrolet of Salisbury, and Utilisite Inc of Lewes, Del. for making this event possible!

Ryan Groton of Laurel, Del. took home the $1000 first place money in Mod ET while Jeremy Brown of Stafford, Va. rode to the $1000 Outten Bros. of Salisbury Pro Bike win. Other winners included: Humphrey Maddox, Jr. of Princess Anne, Md. in G-Body True Street; Drew Birch of Whaleysville, Md. in 1000 cc Bike Shoot-out; Earl Davis of Parksley, Va. in 1300 cc Bike Shoot-out; Larry Bordley of Preston, Md. in Hot Rod; Michael Chapman of Pocomoke, Md. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Keith Riddle of Millsboro, Del. in Jr. Dragster 2.

The late night hour produced some tricky track conditions with drivers that were still in eliminations in some divisions electing to split the purse rather than run the remaining eliminations. Eight drivers in Top ET split $3750 and they included Robert Messick, Christian Walston, David Lowe, Glenn Reese, Danny Bastianelli, Don Teague, Alex Bradford and Daryl Beauchamp. Michael Jefferson and Ryan Whetzel, both of Parsonsburg, Md. split the Street Eliminator final money.

Tom Lynch of Denton, Md. and Scott Willoughby of Salisbury split the 28 /29 Tire Shoot-out final $4000. Takii Smith was involved in a horrendous crash in the first time run but thanks to top safety equipment and a solid cage around him built by Steve Drummond of Drummond Race Cars, Takii was able to walk away from the crash. For full round by round details from the 28/29 Tire Shoot-out log on to delawareracing on Facebook.

Ryan Groton in his ‘78 Malibu faced Russ Archer in his ‘79 Dodge in the Mod ET final that was run in the eight-mile. Archer had the better reaction time but broke out running a 7.804/86.07 on a 7.82 dial-in. Groton was almost dead-on his dial running a 6.905/99.22 on a 6.90 for the win. Semi-finalists were Glen Isom who lost to Groton and Jacob Bowie who lost to Archer.

A stellar field of 66 motorcycles competed in the Outten Bros. of Salisbury Pro Bike eliminations. In the final it was Jeremy Brown on his ‘12 Kawasaki paired against Sherell Blake on his ‘08 Suzuki. Brown had the advantage at the start and rode to the win with an 8.860/144.18 on an 8.85 dial. Blake broke out with an 8.894/144.36 on an 8.95 dial. Semi-finalists were Art Lawrence who lost to Brown and Ty Glunt who lost to Blake.

The Hot Rod final was an odd match up of vehicles as Larry Bordley in his ‘06 Jeep took on Frank Parks in his ‘73 Ford Thunderbird. Bordley was on his game with a .005 reaction light then running a 13.502/101.49 on a 13.50 dial for the win! Parks broke out running an 11.610/107.68 on an 11.68 dial.

Michael Chapman took the Jr. Dragster 1 win over Cole Foskey. Chapman had the better reaction and ran a 12.350/52.79 on a 12.30 dial. Foskey had a solid 12.099/52.85 on an 11.97 dial. In Jr. Dragster 2 it was Keith Riddle over Cody Drummond. Riddle took double breakout win with an 8.014/80.68 on an 8.03 dial. Drummond had an 8.008/81.12 on an 8.10 dial.

In G-Body True Street it was Humphrey Maddox, Jr. over Gary Collins. The 1000 cc Bike Shoot-out went to Drew Birch over Robert Brummell and the 1300 cc Bike Shoot-out went to Earl Davis over Eddie Chapman.
