VERNON RUSSELL BACK IN VICTORY LANE - WINS TOP ET

DELMAR, DE – It has been a great year for veteran racers at the U.S. 13 Dragway and on Friday night the streak continued. Vernon Russell of Dover, Del. defeated second generation driver Vic Gordy to win in Top ET. Daryl Beauchamp of Princess Anne, Md. took the win in Mod ET and Harvey Powell of Felton, Del. extended his lead in the Pro Bike standings with another win. Other winners on the night included: Kody Mariner of Salisbury, Md. in Street; Ed Tull of Willards, Md. in Hot Rod; Keith Riddle of Millsboro, Del. in Jr. Dragster 1 and Dacia Powell of Mardela Springs, Md. in Jr. Dragster 2.

 

The final in Top ET was a good one between Vernon Russell and Vic Gordy. Gordy left first but the pair had almost identical reaction times. The win came on the top end with Russell edging by at the line with a 9.017/146.22 on an 8.99 dial-in. Gordy was only .015 seconds off running a 9.297/142.22 on a 9.26 dial. Semi-finalists were Jay Parrott who lost to Gordy and Mike Jones who lost to Russell.

 

The Mod ET final matched Daryl Beauchamp and Jim Williams in the all-Camaro final. Williams left a tad too early and fouled and Beauchamp got the win with a 9.784/136.96 on a 9.82 dial. Semi-finalist was division point leader, Tim Foskey, Jr. who lost to Williams while Beauchamp had the bye.

 

Harvey Powell continued to be on top of his game as he defeated Drew Birch in the Pro Bike final. Birch had a -.002 red light and Powell was on his dial for the win running an 8.996/143.22 on an 8.99 dial. Semi-finalists were DJ Lockwood who lost to Powell and Brice Cornish, Jr. who lost to Birch.

 

The final round red lights continued as Gary Stickles fouled and Kody Mariner took the win in Street. Mariner ran an 11.693/117.38 on an 11.62 dial. In Hot Rod it was Ed Tull taking the double breakout win over Sara Davis. Tull ran a 13.522/99.96 on a 13.53 dial while Davis had an 11.901/112.59 on an 11.92.

 

Keith Riddle edged Nicholas Bowie to win in Jr. Dragster 1. Riddle ran an 8.002/77.92 on a 7.96 dial while Bowie had an 8.947/73.25 on an 8.92. In Jr. Dragster 2, Dacia Powell posted her first win of the year over Brittany Hooper. Hooper broke out with a 7.939/80.67 on a 7.94 dial and Powell ran a 7.997/82.21 on a 7.98 for the win.Vernon
